Ni Wakati Support Programs/Projects

Ni Wakati Support Programs and Projects are designed to complement—not replace—services provided by government and health agencies. These programs aim to address key health, social, and economic challenges faced by African immigrant and refugee women through culturally sensitive, community-driven initiatives. Program Objectives:
  • Health Navigation and Advocacy:
    • Facilitate access to healthcare services, ensuring African women receive timely and culturally appropriate care.
    • Provide personalized health navigation support for women dealing with chronic health conditions, including HIV/AIDS.
  • Health Education and Awareness:
    • Improve access to health-related information through culturally tailored workshops and outreach.
    • Promote awareness of HIV/AIDS, mental wellness, and chronic disease management within African communities by training peer educators.
  • Income Security and Psychosocial Support:
    • Support women and their families in achieving economic stability through community partnerships and skills development programs.
    • Offer psychosocial support services, including counseling and peer mentorship.
  • Leadership Development:
    • Build leadership and advocacy skills among Society members to empower them as community leaders and health advocates.
  • Social Support and Community Engagement:
    • Reduce isolation by creating opportunities for social connection through community events, support groups, and cultural activities.
    • Enhance practical life skills, including financial literacy and parenting support.
  • Nutrition and Independent Living:
    • Increase knowledge of nutrition and healthy living through workshops and cooking sessions.
    • Strengthen capacity for independent living by providing life skills training and community resource navigation.
These programs work collectively to empower African immigrant and refugee women, enabling them to build healthier, more resilient lives in their new communities.
